On social media last Thursday, country singer Granger Smith announced that at the age of 3 his younger son, River Kelly Smith, had died.
According to Jay Jones of the BBR Music Group, which represents Smith, the kid drowned in his family home. Smith said in an Instagram post that the death was due to a "tragic accident."
Instead of gifts, he asks supporters to give donations into his son's honor at the Dell Children's Medical Center in Texas.
grangersmith: I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith. Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived. Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life. Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father. Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment. Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations to Dell Children’s Medical Center in River’s name. The doctors, nurses and staff have been incredible.
"Amber and I decided to say the last goodbyes to our kid and donate his organs to give a second chance to other kids," said Smith on Thursday in his declaration.
"We feel devastated and heartbroken by our families, but we are consoling ourselves to know that he is with his Heavenly Father," wrote Smith. According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning is the major cause of unintentional death in kids aged 1 to 4.
This weekend, following the news of his son's death, Smith canceled his CMA Fest show at the Chevy Riverfront stage.
Country performers took to social media for Smith and her family to express their sympathy.
The BBR Music Group Recording artist also depicts Earl Dibbles, Jr., a good ancient countryman, with social media outlets following more than 7 million and more than one billion video opinions. Smith was most renowned for his hit songs "If the Boot Fits" and "Backroad Song." The Yee Yee Nation is its fans.
